Feliz Navidad. Que las bendiciones sean de buen nivel.

Mindfulness in Plain English
01
Go to a party. Listen to the laughter, that brittle-tongues voice that says fun on the surface and fear underneath. Feel the tension, feel the pressure. Nobody really relaxes. They are faking it.
02
Go to a ball game. Watch the fans in the stands. Watch the irrational fit of anger. Watch the uncontrolled frustration bubbling forth that masquerades under the guise of enthusiasm or team spirit. Booing, catcalls and unbridled egotism in the name of team loyalty. Drunkenness, fights in the stands. These are people trying desperately to release tension from within. These are not people who are at peace with themselves.
03
Watch the news on TV. Listen to the lyrics in popular songs. You find the same theme repeated over and over in variations. Jealousy, suffering, discontent, and stress.
04
Life seems to be a perpetual struggle, some enormous effort against staggering odds. And what is our solution to all this dissatisfaction? We get stuck in the if only syndrome.

Gotama Buddha
Times of luxury
do not last long
but pass away very
quickly;
nothing in this world
can be long enjoyed
do not last long
but pass away very
quickly;
nothing in this world
can be long enjoyed

Vacaciones --no pagadas--
Mi mente
ya está con el
pie derecho en las vacaciones
no pagadas
Vacaciones ideales
para respirar el frío
recordar el silencio
Mi mente ya está en otra parte
La vida está en otra parte
dijo Milan Kundera

Adultos solos (barcos en la noche)
En más de una ocasión
he visto cómo es más difícil
hacer amistades en la época adulta
De alguna forma nos vamos
quedando solos
haciendo barreras
Aislados
Qué decir
de los amigos
de infancia
cada quien
creando mundos
ideas--
se protegen con hábitos
y lejanías
Es como si nunca nos hubieramos conocido
(Dijiste algo importante. La amistad es mucho del presente. Una cosa es juntarse con un amigo a hablar de los tiempos de antes. Otra cosa son las ideas que han madurado, sobretodo si tú te fuiste por el lado intelectual y tus amigos no. Ya no hay química)

Water meditation
Develop a meditation
that is like water
Doing this
you will find
that the thoughts and impressions
that possess you
will flow away
Just as people wash away their body liquids
their sweat and spittle
pus and blood
and yet the water
is not troubled or disgusted--
so this water meditation
will bring you peace
that is like water
Doing this
you will find
that the thoughts and impressions
that possess you
will flow away
Just as people wash away their body liquids
their sweat and spittle
pus and blood
and yet the water
is not troubled or disgusted--
so this water meditation
will bring you peace

Ego is like a room of your own
Ego is like a room of your own
a room with a view
with the temperature
and the smells
and the music
that you like
You want it your own way
Youd just like
to have a little peace
youd like to have a little happiness
But the more you think that way
the more you try to get life
to come out so that it will always suit you
the more your dear of other people
and whats outside your room grows
Rather than becoming more relaxed
you start pulling down the shades
and locking the door
When you do go out
you find the experience
more and more unsettling and disagreeable
You become touchier
more fearful
more irritable than ever
The more you try to get it your way
the less you feel at home
a room with a view
with the temperature
and the smells
and the music
that you like
You want it your own way
Youd just like
to have a little peace
youd like to have a little happiness
But the more you think that way
the more you try to get life
